This is the service provided by Australian marketing company uSocial, which offers customers the chance to purchase blocks of followers, the BBC reports. Groups are available from around £53 for 1,000 followers, with the biggest segment sold containing 100,000. According to USocial, firms and individuals alike are queuing up to use its service. Chief executive of the organisation Leon Hill said: "Twitter started as a way for just friends to keep in touch. "As with any social media site once they get big, every business or marketer jumps on the bandwagon. It's an excellent marketing medium." USocial selects potential followers by searching Twitter and working out what users are interested in. If you are looking to maximise the success of your business, you would do well to make use of social media websites, it has been claimed. Research conducted recently by Zuberance suggested that more than 100,000 consumers worldwide are so-called 'word-of-mouth advocates', meaning they wax lyrical about their favourite brands and products on sites such as Twitter.
