If you use social media as an outlet for personal expression, you are not alone.According to the latest Ruder Finn Intent Index, 55 per cent of women go online to find venues for such expression. Indeed, the use of social media to note opinions was identified as more popular among female internet users than their male counterparts, with only 43 per cent of men seeing the web as a place to note their views. The index also found that 80 per cent of internet users go online to socialise, while 72 per cent go online to become part of social networks. Responding to the figures, Michael Schubert, chief innovation officer at Ruder Finn, said: "The way the internet has allowed us to share knowledge laterally instead of up the chain of command requires a new way of thinking about our online communications." If you are a member of social networking sites, you may be interested in advice recently issued by Haley Richardson, advisor at Manatee Community College's Career Centre. She said that people looking for jobs should ensure they do not have any information posted on such sites that they would not wish potential employers to see, the Bradenton Herald reported.
