Do you want to know what was sashaayed down the catwalks and what we are likely to have instore for us from September onwards?
Here's an overview:
"The usual expectation of fantasy and escapism are met as always by the a/w collections. Designers delivered highly original creations that are challenging to wear, play with form and show evermore complex ways of using technological advancements in fabric and manufacture. However, this fashion equivalent of 'comfort food' is fettered by an underpinning seriousness and sobriety in the shapes and colours; a reflection of the predicted recession and difficult political climate."
Loosely translated......there are lots of ruffles, folds, layers and collar/neck details to tops and jackets. Chunky (no understatement) knitwear will be big over eighties revived skinny shiny pants (like the ones Olivia Newton John wore in Grease!). Lengths of skirts are either on-the-knee or just below - gone are the micro minis (hoorah!). Trousers - high waisters are still key with jodphur styles making a reappearance. In terms of fabric, lace is a big theme - exuding the feeling of 'just devoured by a spider' (yuk!). Sharp tailoring with clever architectural form will no doubt be taken on by the High Street - great for those classic dressers amongst you.
