You're probably wondering what I have in common with Mary Portas (Queen of Shops)? Apart from the fact we are both Retail Gurus! No, seriously...we have both just been awarded ‘Spirit of Inspiration Awards' at the recent Federation of Image Consultants Annual Conference. Mary won under the Most Dynamic Person in the Image Industry category, where she has successfully raised the profile of the profession and brought a great deal of ‘personality' into the industry as a whole. For those of you who are a fan of her programme Mary Queen of Shops (BBC) will know what I mean. I won the Best New Image Business category, beating 3 others, demonstrating that I am running of the most successful new image consultancy businesses, between 1-3 years old. I presented a strong business plan, with future strategies and the ability to grow more financially in the future.

This is what the judges said about me at the ceremony: (yes, I did have tears in my eyes!)

"This person really inspired us with her enthusiasm and flair for PR. How many consultants do you know who advertise their company on an ethically correct shopping bag? Despite literally being on her back, she still managed to put her business first and is well on the road to well deserved success. She is passionate about what she does and totally business savvy. Her new capsule wardrobe sit is innovative and very 21^st century. We loved it. We are proud to present the 2008 Most Successful New Business Award to Fiona McClurg-Welland."

So, after me blogging about this before, it is now my reality! How pleased and proud I am that I have achieved industry-wide recognition. Now I must get back to my press releases....
